#127: Nightmare
"The air had a sense of moistness to it, she could even smell it in the air she breathed. The place she found herself in was immensely dark, she could barely see what was in front of her as she stumbled about the place, hopelessly trying to orient herself. For a while she crawled over the cracked concrete floor, before finally rising to her feet and walking alongside the wall. The wall itself seemed to be covered in a black organic substance, in a way it seemed as if the wall itself was bleeding, constantly oozing out the liquid. She refrained herself from touching it as she continued deeper into the hallway, deeper into the darkness. In the distance echoed various sounds, one being the sound of drops of water hitting the floor or a large puddle of water. Another echo sounded as if a breeze of wind was passing through the hallway, leaving an ominous feeling or even a sense of dread as it passed through. The hallway she found herself in was rotten with decay, spots of unfamiliar filth covering both the walls and floor.
In the distance she could see a tiny dot of light flickering, beckoning her even, it drew her towards it as if it were her purpose to meet it. As she proceeded to stumble through her horrid surroundings she came across several doors which found themselves at several locations on both sides of the walls that surrounded her. The doors themselves were filthy with dirt and covered in rust, the only place which one could peer through was the small iron-barred grate that was place near the top of the door. As she passed the doors she found herself in a frightening scene. Through the grates of several doors faces were visible, pale and almost starved to the bone, their wide lifeless eyes staring at her as she passed by. She picked up her pace as she passed them, but with every door she passed more of them began occupying the spaces behind the door. She had picked up her pace of walking to the point where she was almost running, as she looked down she noticed that the cracked concrete floor was gone, the floor had become a rusty grate covered in the same black liquid as the walls. Underneath stood the same pale, thin spooky figures as the ones behind the door, looking up to her with their haunted eyes as she passed above them.
The whole scene was terrifying however strangely she did not feel scared, there was no fear inside of her. She felt empty no emotions had overtaken her mind, she felt as if she was just an empty shell. The time she had spent running through the hallway felt like ages, as if she couldn't escape it. Eventually she arrived at where the small speck of light originated. She found herself in a relatively large sized room, decay had also affected the room as it looked almost the same as the hallway she had just escaped from. In about the middle of the room stood a single lit candle, its light granting dimmed visibility into the back of the room. She began venturing deeper into the empty room, making her way across its cracked floor, avoiding chunks of broken rock which were placed at random. At the back of the room stood a lone wooden chair, also affected by the decay as it was covered in specks of black rot, loose splinters sticking out of its surface. In the chair sat something that resembled the figure of a person, however she couldn't clearly determine exactly as it was covered by a dusty woven blanket. Behind the chair stood someone, a figure equally as pale and sickly thin as the ones she had seen before. The person stood there, naked aside from the metal mask that had been nailed onto his face, visibly leaking blood from the spots where the nails had penetrated skin and bone. The rusty plate hid the entirety of the man's face, preventing her from seeing any of his facial features. The man's body was covered in bruises, scratches and scars, most of those were present on his arms. As she gazed at him she oddly enough didn't feel frightening, she was still devoid of any emotion, as she blankly stared at the ghostly figure before her.
The pale figure lowered his head, his metal mask pointing towards the chair, as if focusing its attention to it. Even without him saying a work she felt as if he wanted her to see what was underneath the blanket. She silently moved in closer, towards the chair, reaching out her hand and grasping the blanket. As she grabbed hold of it she could feel its rough fabric alongside the feeling of dust against her skin, slowly she pulled the cloth from the chair, revealing what laid underneath.
She saw a woman sitting in the chair, lifeless and head hanging to the side. It was herself that lifelessly sat there, or whatever was left to resemble her. As she looked at herself she could see that she had the pale colour of a corpse, she had small cuts and bruises all over her, she was filthy and her hair had been violently cut or torn off in some places. Her throat had been cut and the blood that had leaked from the wound and run down all over her body had dried up. Lastly the place where her beautiful blue eyes once where was now empty, a black void now occupied her eyes sockets. She stared blankly at herself without any signs of emotion.
Suddenly she felt a warm feeling inside of her head, eventually turning into a pounding headache. The pain and pressure forced her to her knees, as she fell down to the floor she put her hands on the sides of her hand and screamed. Screaming with all of her might. Her voice echoing through the darkness..."
In a sudden shock she awakened from her sleep, her eyes opening widely as the images still lingered inside of her head. Her head felt heavy as she rose, still on the bed. She felt hot and cold at the same time, her body shivering, her body suffering under the fever. She turned her head and stared into the room, the room's darkness was slightly illuminated by the moon's light that shone through the cracks in the walls and ceiling. Her stomach began aching and shortly after it began to convulse, causing Nanami to throw up. However nothing more than some water spilled onto the ground, as she hadn't eaten anything to her memory. As she trembled the images of her dream began escaping her mind, drifting away until only a few remained.
Another nightmare.
She stared into the room, remembering where she was. It was "their house", at least it had been up until recently. She laid in his bed, as his scent was still present in its sheaths. However she knew that she couldn't stay. She needed to escape this place, she needed to escape the thoughts, the memories and the sorrow. She rose to her feet and aimlessly stumbled across the room, eventually resting herself by leaning against a wall, her head resting against its hard surface. Her eyes stared blankly into nothingness, she felt like crying and yelling out in despair. However she couldn't, no matter how hard she tried it seemed as if her body would not allow her to do so. She had convinced herself that perhaps by realizing his dream she could redeem herself, rid herself of the guilt she felt. However she knew that she couldn't escape the reality she found herself in.
This was a nightmare she could never wake up from
I would give up everything I am, just to erase the footsteps I have taken.~[/i][/color]
