Bakudō : Way of Binding : Defensive Spells
#1 - Sai - Restrain
With indivisible force the targets arm's are locked behind their back at the wrists.
"Key of discipline, twist and force into obedience!"
#2 - Fukuro - Return Path
Used in the material world to open a Senkaimon back to Soul Society. To begin one's zanpakutō is extended in front of them, disappearing as it passes a certain point as if into a key hole. Turning it to unlock the pathway, a rectangular Shōji appears and opens followed by a circular one that is filled with obscuring light. Proficient user's of this technique are able to create the Senkaimon just by thought.
"Star of guidance, light the path of white stone, pass through the barrier."
#3 - Myaku - Pulse
Though concentration one can attempt to sense other spiritual beings within an area around them. Usually by the time one has left the academy there is little need to speak the name of the technique to strengthen it and as one becomes more talented in it the ability becomes practically a second sense.
"Thread of the 20th monk, silver breath, truth's eye. Return to the place of origin."

Firing from the fingertips a rope of yellow energy wraps loosely around a target entangling their arms.
"The snake's gaze is upon thee, flee and fail to escape your inevitable fate!"

A small circular shield of energy appears at the back of the wrist which pushes back with force when struck.
"Rise up the shield of resilience, force their way through the gate of wood. Heavy steps mark thy coming."
#9 - Geki - Strike
Tracing an ancient symbol in the air with red energy, this glow spreads around the user. Upon contact this spreads to the enemy causing them to become paralyzed for a moments time.
"Disintegrate, you black dog of Rondanini!! Look upon yourself with horror and then claw out your own throat!"
#10 - Hōrin - Disintegrating Circle
Creating a orange-hued lasso of swirling energy shooting from two of the caster's fingertips, this wraps around the enemy to immobilize them and allows the user to jerk the target in a direction of their choosing.
"The snake's gaze is upon thee, snare and meld together the frightened roots of cowardice. Point towards to moon."
#14 - Shibireyubi - Numbing Finger
Placing two fingers over a part of the body, a white light emanates which causes the nearby area to become paralyzed and without any sensation. If this is done to the forehead it effects the whole body, but the target remains conscious and retains all senses except touch. The effectiveness of this spell varies with it's full effect only usable on those either exhausted or far below the user in reiryoku.

#20 - Kyōmon - Mirror Door
Seals the room with a glass barrier that is difficult to break from the outside, but simple to break from the inside.
"Wisest of Anumi's children, reflect your image upon water. Becoming the moon's image."
#21 - Sekienton - Red Smoke Escape
Placing one's palms flat to the ground beneath the user this creates a large explosion of red smoke that disburses in a large area in front of the source.
"Breath of the Tengu. Obscuring art of the demon. Conceal the yamabushi beneath the mountain fog."
#26 - Kyokkō - Curved Light
Bending light around an object this conceals sight as well as ability to sense underneath.
"Screens of glass, scraps of diamond, clouds of tears, beams of thought. Bonds formed in tragedy, safety shrouded in fog."
#30 - Shitotsu Sansen - Beak-Piercing Triple Beam
A triangle of light appears with a spear at each corner jolting forward to pin both arms and body against the nearest wall.
"An eagle's eye marks the hidden grave, a lion's fang signals the warrior's coming. Growl with the voices of all those who lay exiled, open their eyes to truth."
#34 - Hōtai Sokubaku - Bandage Binding
A flat white band about two inches in width dart outward from the caster's sleeve with incredible speed, seeking to wrap itself around the target and bind them with significant force.
"Form around the decrepit soul, bind the threads of age. Life returns to void."
#36 - Tekase - Shackle
A pair of thick circular bands made from yellow energy appear around the target's wrists, open only for a briefest moment before snapping shut. They then are forced together, connecting as they solidify into an iron color.
"Stalwart walls of stone, collapse and form into steel, transform your grudges into regret."
#37 - Tsuriboshi - Suspending Star
A star shaped cushion of energy stretches itself out to catch falling items by anchoring itself against nearby objects.
"Body of mercy, split your existence in the hour of need. Break through these confines, aid the fallen."
#39 - Enkōsen - Arc Shield
An efficient circular shield of yellow energy appears in front of the user about one third the size of one's body. The energy is spread out just large enough to protect from an average level blast without being susceptible to breaking. Due to the energy being spread out, this makes it more thin and less efficient for blocking an attack concentrated at a point.
"Rise up the shield of valor, lay to sleep all Obake. These calls will be our command."
#40 - Furusen - Wave Shield
An oval like, clear shield about two thirds the length of the user that appears with the wave of ones hand. This is more efficient than larger shields of comparable level due to a more concentrated area, making it ideal for blocking the swing of a weapon but incapable of blocking an energy blast.
"Rise up the shield of allegiance, repel all who do not live by the rule of flesh. Through punishment one may succeed."

A large shield of energy of yellow hue that is spread over a large area thus allowing the caster to block attacks from multiple angles. With the energy spread out over such a wide area, it trades efficiency for a larger area of coverage.
"Rise up the shield of a safe haven, safeguarding the sons of gold. Bury all weapons, face the closed bronze gates."
#42 - Sandōsen - Plank Shield
Creates a large shield of light orange hue capable of blocking a significantly large blast. As is usual, with energy spread out over an area this is less efficient at blocking strikes than a smaller shield of comparable level.
"Rise up the shield of dignity, friend to all allies, protection against all enemies. Take pride in your foundations, a path to victory lays revealed."
#46 - Hakufuku - White Crawl
This spell creates purple cherry blossoms to fall around a target just out of arms reach, causing them to fall unconscious. The effectiveness of this spell varies with it's full effect only usable on those either exhausted or far below the user in reiryoku.
"Haze of silence, dreams of smoke, veil of obscuring. Bow beaneath a murder of crows, the bleeding tree of spirits and consume the fruit of misery. Cast away your shame as you fall into Nirvana."
#53 - Kasekabu - Restraint Stocks
Creates what resembles wooden stocks or a pillory board out of yellow energy split in half and hinged at the side. Appearing around the neck of the target, their hands are forced upward so that their wrists are held level with the neck before the construct turns on it's hinge and locks shut.
"Stalwart pillars of oak, grow and shape into a shrine, take pity upon those who travel into the valley of desolation."
#58 - Kakushitsuijaku - Summoning of the Tracking Sparrows
Utilizing a black powder this first requires that the user draw a circle on the ground divided into four quadrants with symbols placed in each. Placing palms in front of it, the circle glows with blue spiritual energy cycling through numbers that give the longitude and latitude of a desired target. Those proficient in it's use can detect a multitude of individuals over an extremely far distance.

#61 - Rikūjōkōrō - Six Rods Prison of Light
Six thin wedges of yellow energy appear in a circular formation around the target, colliding into their waistline paralyzing them.
"Carriage of Thunder. Bridge of a spinning wheel. With light, divide this into six!"
#62 - Hyapporankan - Hundred Steps Fence
A long rod of glowing energy appears in ones hand that when thrown multiplies into numerous that litter the targeted area and pin the enemy.
"Dying body of the comet, erupting into a rainfall. Light becomes a fixture, essence becomes a spear. Ending reached within the crystal garden."

Several glowing chains of energy appear loosely around the torso and arms of the targets body that suddenly close in tightly.

Placing a palm over the target's forehead, their pupils begin to dilate several times before they fall unconscious. The effectiveness of this spell varies with it's full effect only usable on those either exhausted or far below the user in reiryoku.

#69 - Sōshi Hōtai Sokubaku - Twin Bandage Binding
Numerous flat white bands about two inches in width dart outward from both of the casters sleeves, seeking to wrap themselves around the target and bind them significant force.
"Form around the decrepit soul, bind the threads of age. The dead walk the land, the living retreat into isolation. Curse lasting a 1000 years."
#73 - Tozanshō - Inverse Mountain Crystal
Starting at a center point far below the caster, four arrows of energy shoot diagonally upwards leaving behind a trail, stopping at four corners before then traveling horizontally to a different corner and thus forming an upside down pyramid. While capable of protecting multiple people from every angle, the energy is spread out and thus it is not as strong as a smaller barrier of a comparable level.
"Body of mercy, unify your existence into a beacon of solitude. Borders become solid, a temple of snow amidst a legion of fire."
#75 - Gochūtekkan - Quintet of 1 Kan Iron Pillars
Five very large pillars chains together appear in the air all dropping down onto the target pinning them with incredible force.
"Walls of ironsand, a priestly pagoda, glowing ironclad fireflies. Standing upright, silent to the end."
#77 - Tenteikūra - Heavenly Rickshaws in Silken Air
Drawing jagged marking upon one's arms with black powder, the user then thrusts out their palms creating a small square box of energy in front of them allowing communication among any number of allies over long distances.
"Black and white net. Twenty-two bridges, sixty-six crowns and belts. Footprints, distant thunder, sharp peak, engulfing land, hidden in the night, sea of clouds, blue line. Form a circle and fly though the heavens."
#78 - Keikaigi - World Tying Rite
This allows for the creation of an entrance to or exit from Hueco Mundo.
"My right hand is the stone that bridges worlds. My left hand is the blade that binds reality. The black-haired shepherd is hung from a chair. Stratus clouds come, and I strike down the ibis."
#79 - Kuyō Shibari - Nine Sunlight Traps
Eight black holes appear around the targets body that spew forth dark energy with a final one appearing in the center of the target's chest severely immobilizing them.
"I name thee. Bringer of war, poisoners, pariahs, grand obscenity! Wretched master of decay, bring your black presence. Detest your impious, murderous will. From the blood of the earth they have risen. Let them come to a simmering boil, then remove to a low flame."

A large clear rectangular energy barrier appears in front of the caster that is capable of stopping destructive spells up to level eighty-nine.

Began by slamming one's palms together, an outline appears of several diamonds appear in front of them with green energy which gradually begins to fill in as a three-dimensional cross of rectangles form around a large targeted area to seal those caught within.
"Our hands are the tools which break imagination, our voice the method which we negate beliefs. Through these vessels a message is spread. Awaken the sleeper! Time is the weapon which we wield, patience our shield. Carry the iron cross, pass through the marble archway."
#86 - Hako Okuri - Farewell Box
This allows a small object to be encased within a barrier and transported to or away from the user in the blink of the eye. While never simple, this spell can become greatly more taxing depending on the item's size, the distance it is traveling, and what it has to pass through.
"Hills of an endless distance, I call upon thee. From across any plane within the bounds of reality, limitless be your bounds. Aid your companion, serve them as they would you."
#87 - Sentan Hakuja - Thousand-Coil White Snake
Requiring that a ritual has been performed at a predetermined location, this uses a long white band that begins to spin rapidly around the user before sharply closing in around them followed by a flash of light. They are then instantly transported to the predetermined area with the difficulty increasing depending on distance traveled and number of passengers.
"Fish that swims upon the winds guides direction. Serpent that slithers upon the ground molds a path. Invited by the Heavens are those that may sit upon thy back. A song of whispers is thou reward, a painless promise is forged."
#89 - Kōgane Sekikan - Gold Sarcophagus
Beginning by the caster holding their hands parallel with fingers spread apart and curved inwards so that the tips point to each other, this forms two thick walled constructs of brilliant yellow energy which are boxlike with protrusions at each corner. Appearing in front of and behind the target, when the user's palms are slammed together with fingers interlocked they envelop the opponent, sealing them within as it becomes a more solid physical structure.
"Thirty-two crown, twenty-nine hand, one-hundred sixty-two stone. The cost of passage is paid, the ferryman nods. Great structures of the ancient world crumble, the tower topples down on high. Burial mounds sink, the graveyard of kings is overgrown, the great throne rusts. Walls fall on their own creator, the coffin is sealed."

This unusual shield is casted at a time before battle and remains invisible, only for it to activate and consume the user's energy when it is triggered by an opponent's attack. Upon activation it appears as a large pulsating green hexagon which deflects an attack before rapidly growing smaller with each pulse until it fades from view.
"Rise up the shield of armor, genesis to a new generation, restorer of faith. Flow amongst a stream of life, energy shall be restored, poison shall be cast out!"
#92 - Kikai no Jōmon - The Gate of Turtle Shell
First beginning of just a few small hexagons of green energy in a lose arrangement, they move around erratically leaving behind copies as they multiply and arrange themselves in formation that in a blink becomes a giant solidified brown pentagon. In comparison to the other gate barriers this one is smaller in size and weaker, but can be formed far more rapidly.
"Brethren-in-arms guarding the hidden palace and uphold thou oath; broken mark, faded mark, buried mark, forgotten mark; shaping water into one solitary purpose."
#93 - Koko no Jōmon - The Gate of Tiger Fang
First beginning as a tiny circle of black energy surrounded by white light, it rapidly expands to solidify into a larger watermill sort of shape. While this barrier is considerably weaker than the other gates, it have the unique property of the center cut into wedge shapes that can be pushed forward to open and allow an attack to pass through in the enemy's direction.
"Brethren-in-arms scouting the plains of red grass and revealing limitless intent; bloodied claw, pristine claw, bound claw, iron claw; pouncing upon thy prey creates a site of fertility."
#94 - Ryubi no Jōmon - The Gate of Dragon Tail
Clapping one's hands together, a small rectangular bar of energy forms and multiplies as arms are spread wider apart. These solidify as they are shot forward becoming massive white pillars that arrange themselves next to each other to form a wall. More are summoned to layer the wall several times before two blue blanks are slid on top to form a roof with jutting protrusions. With a final swipe of the hand horizontally a blue bar is placed to bar it entirely and create a incredibly large structure which has an invisible barrier that extends even beyond it's boundaries.
"Brethren-in-arms withdrawing for the distance of 8 sun and standing still; blue bolt, white bolt, black bolt, red bolt; sinking into the ocean together seeking redemption."
#95 - Hoyoku no Jōmon - The Gate of Phoenix Wings
Starting at a center point, flames begin to trace a giant u shape with long red planks descending along with a giant white obelisk from the beginning origin point. The obelisk and red planks raise upward and curve inwards to form a giant circle. While this does little on it's own, when placed on top of an arrangement with the other three gates present, it then forms Shiji no Saimon, The Gate of Four Beasts. A box of dark hued energy forms around the gates to become a binding that securely traps those within. Due to the incredible complexity of casting each of these spells to form this, it actually can produce a binding stronger than level 99 when in expert hands.

#99 - Bankin - Great Seal
With three stages to the spell it can be stopped at several times for different levels of outcome. It begins with two lengths of fabric wrap around the arms of the target continuing to spin around until the second stage when several stone pillars pin the ends resulting in a giant x shape having pinned the target firmly to the ground. The spell may be halted here, but if it is continued this culminates in a giant mental cube being dropped down on the target to lock them in place.
"First Song: Halting Fabric. Second Song: Hundred Linked Bolts. Final Song: Great Seal of 10,000 Forbiddings"

Starting at a center point far below the caster, four arrows of energy shoot diagonally upwards leaving behind a trail, stopping at four corners before then traveling horizontally to a different corner and thus forming an upside down pyramid. While capable of protecting multiple people from every angle, the energy is spread out and thus it is not as strong as a smaller barrier of a comparable level.

Five very large pillars chains together appear in the air all dropping down onto the target pinning them with incredible force.

#77 - Tenteikūra - Heavenly Rickshaws in Silken Air
Drawing jagged marking upon one's arms with black powder, the user then thrusts out their palms creating a small square box of energy in front of them allowing communication among any number of allies over long distances.

#79 - Kuyō Shibari - Nine Sunlight Traps
Eight black holes appear around the targets body that spew forth dark energy with a final one appearing in the center of the target's chest severely immobilizing them.

A large clear rectangular energy barrier appears in front of the caster that is capable of stopping destructive spells up to level eighty-nine.

#83 - Tanma Otoshi - Time-Out Drop
Placing a palm over the target's forehead, a white light emanates which causes unconsciousness. The effectiveness of this spell varies with it's full effect only usable on those either exhausted or far below the user in reiryoku.

#84 - Roppō Fūjin - Hexagon Seal Array
Began by slamming one's palms together, an outline appears of several diamonds appear in front of them with green energy which gradually begins to fill in as a three-dimensional cross of rectangles form around a large targeted area to seal those caught within.

#86 - Hako Okuri - Farewell Box
This allows a small object to be encased within a barrier and transported to or away from the user in the blink of the eye. While never simple, this spell can become greatly more taxing depending on the item's size, the distance it is traveling, and what it has to pass through.
"Hills of an endless distance, I call upon thee. From across any plane within the bounds of reality, limitless be your bounds. Aid your companion, serve them as they would you."
#87 - Sentan Hakuja - Thousand-Coil White Snake
Requiring that a ritual has been performed at a predetermined location, this uses a long white band that begins to spin rapidly around the user before sharply closing in around them followed by a flash of light. They are then instantly transported to the predetermined area with the difficulty increasing depending on distance traveled and number of passengers.
"Fish that swims upon the winds guides direction. Serpent that slithers upon the ground molds a path. Invited by the Heavens are those that may sit upon thy back. A song of whispers is thou reward, a painless promise is forged."
#89 - Kōgane Sekikan - Gold Sarcophagus
Beginning by the caster holding their hands parallel with fingers spread apart and curved inwards so that the tips point to each other, this forms two thick walled constructs of brilliant yellow energy which are boxlike with protrusions at each corner. Appearing in front of and behind the target, when the user's palms are slammed together with fingers interlocked they envelop the opponent, sealing them within as it becomes a more solid physical structure.
"Thirty-two crown, twenty-nine hand, one-hundred sixty-two stone. The cost of passage is paid, the ferryman nods. Great structures of the ancient world crumble, the tower topples down on high. Burial mounds sink, the graveyard of kings is overgrown, the great throne rusts. Walls fall on their own creator, the coffin is sealed."

#91 - Rokkakusen - Hexagon Shield
This unusual shield is casted at a time before battle and remains invisible, only for it to activate and consume the user's energy when it is triggered by an opponent's attack. Upon activation it appears as a large pulsating green hexagon which deflects an attack before rapidly growing smaller with each pulse until it fades from view.
"Rise up the shield of armor, genesis to a new generation, restorer of faith. Flow amongst a stream of life, energy shall be restored, poison shall be cast out!"
#92 - Kikai no Jōmon - The Gate of Turtle Shell
First beginning of just a few small hexagons of green energy in a lose arrangement, they move around erratically leaving behind copies as they multiply and arrange themselves in formation that in a blink becomes a giant solidified brown pentagon. In comparison to the other gate barriers this one is smaller in size and weaker, but can be formed far more rapidly.
"Brethren-in-arms guarding the hidden palace and uphold thou oath; broken mark, faded mark, buried mark, forgotten mark; shaping water into one solitary purpose."
#93 - Koko no Jōmon - The Gate of Tiger Fang
First beginning as a tiny circle of black energy surrounded by white light, it rapidly expands to solidify into a larger watermill sort of shape. While this barrier is considerably weaker than the other gates, it have the unique property of the center cut into wedge shapes that can be pushed forward to open and allow an attack to pass through in the enemy's direction.
"Brethren-in-arms scouting the plains of red grass and revealing limitless intent; bloodied claw, pristine claw, bound claw, iron claw; pouncing upon thy prey creates a site of fertility."
#94 - Ryubi no Jōmon - The Gate of Dragon Tail
Clapping one's hands together, a small rectangular bar of energy forms and multiplies as arms are spread wider apart. These solidify as they are shot forward becoming massive white pillars that arrange themselves next to each other to form a wall. More are summoned to layer the wall several times before two blue blanks are slid on top to form a roof with jutting protrusions. With a final swipe of the hand horizontally a blue bar is placed to bar it entirely and create a incredibly large structure which has an invisible barrier that extends even beyond it's boundaries.
"Brethren-in-arms withdrawing for the distance of 8 sun and standing still; blue bolt, white bolt, black bolt, red bolt; sinking into the ocean together seeking redemption."
#95 - Hoyoku no Jōmon - The Gate of Phoenix Wings
Starting at a center point, flames begin to trace a giant u shape with long red planks descending along with a giant white obelisk from the beginning origin point. The obelisk and red planks raise upward and curve inwards to form a giant circle. While this does little on it's own, when placed on top of an arrangement with the other three gates present, it then forms Shiji no Saimon, The Gate of Four Beasts. A box of dark hued energy forms around the gates to become a binding that securely traps those within. Due to the incredible complexity of casting each of these spells to form this, it actually can produce a binding stronger than level 99 when in expert hands.

#99 - Bankin - Great Seal
With three stages to the spell it can be stopped at several times for different levels of outcome. It begins with two lengths of fabric wrap around the arms of the target continuing to spin around until the second stage when several stone pillars pin the ends resulting in a giant x shape having pinned the target firmly to the ground. The spell may be halted here, but if it is continued this culminates in a giant mental cube being dropped down on the target to lock them in place.
